Jbeezy created the strain by pollinating the clone-only cut of Triangle Kush with his esteemed Animal Mints male. This hybrid, dubbed Triangle Mints, produced many potent and flavorful offspring.

One select phenotype of Triangle Mints was especially dank. This plant offered a substantial yield of resinous flowers that radiated a divine aroma of vanilla, cookie dough, and lemon sponge cake. The Jungle Boys, a prominent group of growers in California, nicknamed this phenotype “Wedding Cake” in recognition of its sugary-sweet scent.

Wedding Cake quickly reached celebrity status, and many breeders used the cut to breed glamorous strains such as Wedding Pie, Dosi-Cake, and Jungle Cake. In 2018, Wedding Cake secured 1st place for Best Hybrid Flower at the Southern California High Times Medical Cannabis Cup. Wedding Cake Lineage

Wedding Cake, the mother of Cake N’ Chem, is a special phenotype that was discovered within the Triangle Mints line of seeds. Triangle Mints is a cross of the celebrated Triangle Kush and Jbeezy’s Animal Mints male. Triangle Kush is a classic strain that is believed to be a hybrid of Emerald Triangle and Hindu Kush.

Animal Mints, Wedding Cake’s father, was bred by Seed Junky Genetics. The Animal Mints variety is a polyhybrid of Animal Cookies, Girl Scout Cookies, and a Blue Power male. Seed Junky has used the Animal Mints male to create numerous top-tier strains, including Kush Mints, Animal Walker, and Animal Face.

Stardawg

Stardawg, the father of Cake N’ Chem, was bred by Top Dawg Seeds. JJ NYC, the founder of Top Dawg, created Stardawg with the mission of creating a line of seeds that reflected the prized traits of Chemdawg.

JJ used an Afghan No. 1 from Sensi Seeds to pollinate the clone-only Chem D cut. Next, he backcrossed this Chem-Afghan strain with the Chem D twice, selecting for Chem-dominant plants. Finally, he paired this Chem D backcross with the Chem 4 cut. JJ titled this hybrid “Stardawg,” perhaps to emphasize its iridescent resin glands that sparkle like stars.

Stardawg Lineage

JJ NYC states that Stardawg is a cross of Chem 4 and Tres Dawg. Tres Dawg, in turn, is a backcross of Chem D, using an Afghan No. 1 male. Chem 4 and Chem D are descendants of Chemdawg, also known as Dog Bud—a distinguished strain with an unknown pedigree. Given its funky, earthy aroma, some growers suggest that Chemdawg could be a progeny of Skunk No. 1. Others have suggested that it could be a cross of Lemon Thai and Pakistani Kush.
