F2 stands for “second filial generation.” This means that plants from the same F1 hybrid have been crossed together to create a second generation of offspring. Inbreeding the F1 plants opens the gene pool, making rare, recessive traits appear.
You’ll find plants that resemble the mother of the F1, some that resemble the father, and some that are a blend of the two. You may even come across phenos that are truly one of a kind.
