Sherbet x Animal Cookies
Dunkaroos is an extra frosty cannabis cultivar that is heavy on aroma, flavor, and potency. This premium feminized hybrid melds two of the best dessert strains on Earth: Sunset Sherbet and Animal Cookies. Dunkaroos produces an array of elite phenotypes that exemplify the best traits of both parents.
Sunset Sherbet, the mother of Dunkaroos, is one of the most cherished strains to come from the famous Cookies Family of San Francisco. This award-winning variety consistently delivers exceptional potency, flavor, and bag appeal. Animal Cookies, the other parent of Dunkaroos, is known for its remarkable resin production, exotic aroma, and narcotic effects. By crossing these two strains, Greenpoint Seeds has created Dunkaroos—a potent hybrid that embodies the finest qualities of Cookies.
The story of Sunset Sherbet started in 2011, when two San Francisco-based growers, Jigga and Sherbinski, were introduced to each other by one of Sherbinski’s kickboxing students. Jigga and Sherbinski became fast friends and decided to work on a cannabis-breeding project together.
Jigga collected some pollen from his Burmese Blackberry Kush and used it to pollinate Sherbinski’s cut of OG Kush. The resulting hybrid, known as “Pink Panties,” was remarkably potent and flavorful, but lacked in yield. Despite the skimpy yield, Sherbinski kept one of the Pink Panties plants in his garden.
This plant turned out to be a male and, before Sherbinski could remove it from the garden, it pollinated Jigga’s prized cut of Thin Mint Cookies. Although Sherbinski was upset about this accidental pollination, he decided to sprout some of the seeds. One of these seeds turned out to be one of the most prized phenotypes in recent years: Sunset Sherbet.
Sunset Sherbet has since become one of the most in-demand offerings from the Cookies Family, and is a favorite among medical and recreational users. Many breeders have used Sherbinski’s Sunset Sherbet to create exotic and flavorful hybrids.
Sunset Sherbet Lineage
Sunset Sherbet is a hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. The lineage of Girl Scout Cookies is somewhat hazy but, according to the Cookies Family, it is a cross of Florida OG and a proprietary strain known as F1 Durban. Pink Panties, the father of Sunset Sherbet is a hybrid of OG Kush and Burmese Blackberry Kush.
The other parent of Dunkaroos, Animal Cookies, is a highly popular cultivar that, like Sunset Sherbet, originated with the Cookies Family of San Francisco. Animal Cookies is a particularly potent hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG, and it offers a better yield and sturdier branches than most Cookies strains. It also delivers a narcotic stone that numbs the body and soothes the mind, making it a favorite among medical and recreational users.
Animal Cookies Lineage
Animal Cookies, the other parent of Dunkaroos, is a cross of two legendary strains—Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. The lineage of Girl Scout Cookies is unclear, but many believe that Animal Cookies is a cross of Durban Poison, Florida OG, and an unknown cultivar referred to as “F1.”
Fire OG, the other parent of Animal Cookies, also has an unclear pedigree. Some growers suggest that Fire OG is an original cut of OG Kush, while others have said that it is an S1 or a hybrid of OG Kush and another strain.
Dunkaroos Feminized Cannabis Seeds
Greenpoint Seeds used the coveted, clone-only phenotype of Animal Cookies to pollinate the renowned Sunset Sherbet. The resulting hybrid, Dunkaroos, produces a variety of phenotypes that present the award-winning qualities of Sunset Sherbet and Animal Cookies. Some plants may offer the balanced effects and sweet, fruity aroma of Sunset Sherbet, and others may offer the narcotic stone and incredible resin production of Animal Cookies. Most Dunkaroos phenotypes will present a mixture of these characteristics.
Dunkaroos is an Indica-dominant feminized hybrid. Feminized seeds are a popular choice among growers because these seeds make the growing process simple and straightforward. Approximately 99.9 percent of the seeds will produce all-female offspring. This means that growers will not have to separate male plants from the garden.
True to its name, Sunset Sherbet smells like a sweet, fruity frozen dessert. This variety offers a delectable bouquet of berry, orange, and candy, with hints of skunk and soil. The aroma is unique and intoxicatingly sweet.
In contrast, Animal Cookies offers a pungent, sweet-and-sour bouquet that is highly aromatic. The buds emit sweet notes of brown sugar, cookie dough, and cherries, coupled with spicy scents of skunk, gasoline, and fresh soil. When breaking apart the flowers of Animal Cookies, some users detect undertones of pine and pepper.
Dunkaroos combines the candy-like aroma of Sunset Sherbet with the sweet-and-sour zest of Animal Cookies. This variety smells of berry, cookie dough, and cherry, mixed with bitter notes of skunk, soil, and petrol.
Dunkaroos mixes the fruity flavor of Sunset Sherbet with the cookie-dough funk of Animal Cookies. This variety coats the palate with notes of cherry, blackberry, brown sugar, and orange, with undertones of gasoline and soil. Depending on the phenotype, some plants may be sweeter and fruitier, and some may be more earthy and skunky. Most phenotypes will offer a blend of these flavors.
Although Sunset Sherbet is an Indica-dominant variety, it offers a powerful cerebral high. Users report that the high begins with a surge of creativity and motivation, boosting the mood and easing stress. This invigorating high shifts into a relaxing and numbing stone that may reduce pain without making the user feel lethargic. When consumed in moderation, Sunset Sherbet makes for an excellent afternoon smoke.
Animal Cookies provides powerful and narcotic effects. This Indica-dominant variety produces a strong body buzz that may ease tension and reduce pain. The high comes on quickly, elevating the mood, boosting the appetite, and relaxing the body. When consumed in excess, this strain may send even the most seasoned stoners into a deep sleep.

The high begins with a rush of euphoria and slowly transforms into a soothing and comforting stone. Sherbet-dominant phenotypes may be more uplifting and cerebral, and Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more narcotic.
Sunset Sherbet is of medium height, with long, lanky branches and thick, dark-green leaves. This variety forms small- to medium-size colas that are heavily coated in resin. The buds are small and dense, featuring orange pistils, milky trichomes, and hints of purple in the sugar leaves.
Animal Cookies is medium to tall in height, with long, thin branches and dark-green leaves. The leaves often display shades of purple and red when exposed to cold temperatures. Animal Cookies forms bright-green, popcorn-size buds dappled with purple sugar leaves and red-orange pistils.
Dunkaroos is medium to tall in height, with long, thin branches that have significant internodal spacing. This cultivar forms fat, emerald-green leaves with wide, sharply serrated leaflets. Dunkaroos produces small- to medium-size colas that are heavily caked in resin. The buds are decorated with red-orange pistils, purple sugar leaves, and a thick blanket of trichomes.
Sunset Sherbet is a fairly easy strain to cultivate, and is resistant to most pests, diseases, and environmental stressors. This variety can be grown both indoors and outdoors, using a variety of cultivation techniques. When grown outdoors, Sunset Sherbet thrives in a warm, sunny climate, with moderate humidity.
For most novice growers, Animal Cookies is a challenging strain to cultivate. This variety is sensitive to changes in temperature and pH, as well as other environmental stresses. Animal Cookies performs best in a controlled environment, with abundant lighting, proper nutrition, and a consistent pH.
Growers typically find that cultivating Dunkaroos is more difficult than growing Sunset Sherbet but is easier than growing Animal Cookies. Some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes of Dunkaroos may stretch in height during the early flowering period. Growers can limit the stretch and boost the yield of Dunkaroos by using high-stress or low-stress training techniques. Dunkaroos benefits from topping, fimming, super cropping, and other training methods.
Pest & Disease Control
Sunset Sherbet-dominant phenotypes tend to be resistant to mold and mildew, but some Animal Cookies-dominant plants may be susceptible to fungal diseases. Growers can avoid powdery-mildew infections by pruning the plants, providing sufficient lighting and air circulation, and lowering the humidity level. They can also use foliar sprays such as water and sodium bicarbonate solutions to stop powdery mildew from spreading.
Some Dunkaroos plants may be prone to bud rot. To prevent bud rot and other diseases, growers gently prune the plants, provide lots of lighting and ventilation, and keep the humidity level low during the flowering cycle.
Most Cookies plants tend to require more calcium and magnesium than other strains. Dunkaroos also requires an abundant supply of micronutrients. Growers can prevent calcium and magnesium deficits by feeding with a cal-mag supplement or adding gypsum, Epsom salt, or oyster shell to the soil. Some Dunkaroos phenotypes may be sensitive to pH fluctuations, so growers should test the pH of their nutrient solutions before feeding the plants.
Harvesting & Curing Dunkaroos
Dunkaroos typically finishes the flowering cycle in nine weeks, but some phenotypes may take ten weeks to reach maturity. The most accurate method of determining if the plants are ripe is by using a jeweler’s loupe or microscope to look at the trichomes on the buds. When the trichomes have turned white and amber, the plants are ready to be harvested. If the plants are harvested when the trichomes are still clear, Dunkaroos may provide a more Sativa-like effect. If the plants are harvested when the trichomes have turned amber, the high is usually more narcotic. Harvesting Dunkaroos at peak ripeness will allow growers to maximize yield and potency.
Shortly before harvest, growers usually stop fertilizing the plants and flush them with plain water. Many growers state that flushing significantly improves the flavor of the buds. While flushing Dunkaroos, the leaves may display hues of yellow and purple.
After flushing the plants, the next step is to cut down the branches and remove the fan leaves. Growers then manicure the flowers by using shears to trim the sugar leaves on the buds. They often use these trichome-encrusted leaves to make hash, edibles, and other products.
After trimming the buds, the next step is to dry them. The branches can be hung by a node or placed on a drying rack for up to a week. Once the flowers feel light and crispy, they are fully dry.
The final step is to cure the flowers. Curing is an important step, as it maintains the potency of the buds and brings out their flavor. Growers place the buds in glass jars, and store the jars in a cool, dry, and dark area. They open them once or twice a day to prevent mold from growing on the flowers. After two to four weeks of curing, the buds are ready to be smoked.
