Orange Daiquiri x Animal Cookies
Daiquiri is a top-tier cannabis cultivar brimming with fruity flavor. This premium feminized hybrid combines Orange Daiquiri and Animal Cookies, two terpene-rich varieties that offer exotic aromas and exceptional potency.
Orange Daiquiri has received much praise for its powerful effects, hardy growth, and sweet, citrusy aroma. This elite strain produces dense, resin-caked buds that regularly test at more than 24 percent THC. Animal Cookies, in turn, is known for its narcotic effects, exotic flavor, and outstanding bag appeal. By combining these two cultivars, Greenpoint Seeds has created Daiquiri—a unique dessert-themed strain with the sweet, fruity aroma of Orange Daiquiri and the incredible density, color, and resin production of Animal Cookies.
The story of Orange Daiquiri, the mother of Daiquiri, starts with a flavorful strain known as Orange Juice. Gage Green Group, a well-known seed company based in Michigan, developed Orange Juice by creating a three-way hybrid of California Orange, OG Kush, and Joseph OG.
Obsol33t, a popular breeder associated with Franchise Genetics, used a select phenotype of Gage Green’s Orange Juice to pollinate the renowned Girl Scout Cookies strain. The resulting hybrid—Orange Cookies—combines the citrusy flavor of Orange Juice with the stellar potency and resin production of Girl Scout Cookies.
Sometime later, a Colorado-based cannabis breeder known as Cannarado Genetics crossed Obsol33t’s Orange Cookies with Grape Pie No. 2, creating Orange Daiquiri. This hybrid was a hit among growers and users, who appreciated its fruity flavor and potent effects.
The Jungle Boys, an esteemed group of growers from California, helped popularize Cannarado’s Orange Daiquiri. They germinated many seeds of this cultivar, selecting an elite phenotype that displays all of the best qualities of Orange Cookies and Grape Pie. The Jungle Boys’ cut offers a sweet, citrusy aroma, exceptional resin production, and a powerful high that can be felt in both the body and mind.
Orange Daiquiri Lineage
Orange Daiquiri is a hybrid of Orange Cookies and Grape Pie No. 2. Orange Cookies, the mother of Orange Daiquiri, is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Orange Juice. Orange Juice is a three-way hybrid of California Orange, OG Kush, and Joseph OG. Grape Pie, the other parent of Orange Daiquiri, is a hybrid of Cherry Pie and Grape Stomper.
Animal Cookies, sometimes called Animal Crackers, is the other predecessor of Daiquiri. Animal Cookies is considered by many Cookies fans to be one of the most potent and flavorful cuts of Cookies. This world-renowned cultivar was brought forth by the Cookies Family of San Francisco. The Cookies Family has earned a reputation as being one of the most admired groups of breeders in the cannabis industry, and has created several top-tier strains such as Gelato 41 and London Pound Cake 75.
Animal Cookies is a descendent of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. This phenotype tends to produce a larger yield and stronger branches than most Cookies cuts. Animal Cookies provides a deeply narcotic effect that may numb the body and soothe the mind. Due to its potent high and exotic aroma, Animal Cookies is a favorite among fans of Girl Scout Cookies.
Animal Cookies Lineage
Animal Cookies, the other parent of Daiquiri, is a descendant of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. This clone-only strain is a cross of Durban Poison, Florida OG, and an unidentified cultivar known as “F1.”
Fire OG, one of the parents of Animal Cookies, descends from the classic OG Kush strain. Some growers suggest that Fire OG is an original phenotype of OG Kush; however, it bears some differences from the original phenotype. In consequence, some growers have suggested that Fire OG may be an S1 or a hybrid of OG Kush and another cultivar. Animal Cookies unites the distinct color and flavor of Girl Scout Cookies and the potency and hardiness of Fire OG.
Daiquiri Feminized Cannabis Seeds
Greenpoint Seeds used the original cut of Animal Cookies to pollinate the Jungle Boys’ phenotype of Orange Daiquiri. The resulting hybrid, Daiquiri, produces a range of phenotypes that share the exceptional qualities of both parents. Some plants may offer the sweet flavor and hardy growth of Orange Daiquiri, and others may provide the narcotic stone and exceptional bag appeal of Animal Cookies. Most plants will present a combination of these qualities.
Daiquiri is an Indica-dominant feminized hybrid. Growers value feminized seeds because these seeds make the growing process simple. By using feminized seeds, growers can rest assured that 99.9 percent of the seeds will produce all-female plants. This eliminates the need to keep a close eye on the plants and separate the males from the garden.
Orange Daiquiri is a highly aromatic variety that offers a sweet, fruity scent that users love. True to its name, this cultivar smells strongly of orange liqueur. The sweet, citrusy aroma is mixed with hints of grape, pine, gasoline, and herbs.
In contrast, Animal Cookies offers a robust bouquet that is complex and pungent. The buds emit sweet notes of brown sugar, cookie dough, and cherries, coupled with spicy scents of skunk, gasoline, and fresh soil. When breaking apart the flowers of Animal Cookies, some users detect undertones of pepper and pine.
Daiquiri melds the fruity aroma of Orange Daiquiri with the sweet-and-sour bouquet of Animal Cookies. Some Orange Daiquiri-dominant phenotypes may smell more of orange and grape, and other plants may take on the sweet-and-sour tang of Animal Cookies.
Daiquiri is just as flavorful as it is aromatic. This cultivar tastes of orange, grape, and cherry, mixed with subtle undertones of cookie dough, petrol, skunk, and soil. Some Orange Daiquiri-dominant plants may taste more of orange liqueur and grape, and some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may taste more of cookie dough, cherry, and skunk. Most plants will offer a blend of these flavors.
Orange Daiquiri is a potent variety, containing up to 24 percent THC. The cultivar offers a deeply relaxing effect, which soothes the body and mind. Users report that Orange Daiquiri delivers a powerful cerebral high that may relieve stress and boost the mood. Soon, the high turns into a relaxing body stone, which may ease pain and tension without leaving the user feeling lethargic. When consumed in moderation, Orange Daiquiri is a great all-day smoke for users seeking relief from pain and stress.
Animal Cookies provides powerful narcotic effects. This Indica-dominant variety produces a strong body buzz that may ease tension and reduce pain. The high comes on quickly, relieving stress, boosting the appetite, and relaxing the body. When consumed in excess, this strain may send even the most seasoned stoners into a deep sleep.
Daiquiri brings together the mood-boosting high of Orange Daiquiri with the narcotic and sleep-inducing stone of Animal Cookies. The high begins with a wave of bliss, and slowly transforms into a soothing and comforting stone. Orange Daiquiri-dominant phenotypes may be more uplifting and cerebral, and Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more narcotic.
Orange Daiquiri is medium to tall in height, with long, thick branches and sharply serrated leaves. This strain produces medium-size colas that are thick and heavy. The flowers are dense and sticky, and feature swollen calyxes, purple sugar leaves, orange pistils, and a thick blanket of trichomes. When exposed to cold temperatures, the leaves and flowers may display hues of purple and black.
Animal Cookies is medium to tall in height, with long, thin branches and dark-green leaves. The leaves may present shades of purple and red when exposed to cold temperatures. Animal Cookies forms bright-green, popcorn-size buds dappled with purple sugar leaves and red-orange pistils.
Like its parents, Daiquiri is medium to tall in height, with long branches that have substantial internodal spacing. This variety forms medium-size colas that are heavily coated in resin. The flowers are remarkably dense and sticky. When exposed to cold temperatures, some phenotypes of Daiquiri may display hues of purple, black, and red in the leaves and buds.
Unlike most Cookies hybrids, Orange Daiquiri is a hardy and vigorous strain that most growers find easy to cultivate. This variety is resistant to most pests, diseases, and environmental stressors, and can thrive both indoors and outdoors. When grown outdoors, Orange Daiquiri prefers a temperate climate with moderate humidity.
In contrast, Animal Cookies is considered by many to be a challenging strain to grow. This variety may suffer when exposed to fluctuations in temperature and pH, and other environmental stresses. Animal Cookies flourishes in a highly controlled environment, with a stable pH, ample lighting, and adequate nutrition.
Daiquiri is easier to grow than most Cookies crosses, and is resistant to most pests and diseases. This variety is hardy, and can thrive both indoors and outdoors. Growers of Daiquiri may use a wide variety of cultivation techniques; however, some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more sensitive to environmental stresses.
Both Orange Daiquiri and Animal Cookies tend to stretch significantly during the early flowering period. Like its parents, most phenotypes of Daiquiri will stretch in height during the early flowering period. Growers can limit the vertical stretch and increase the yield of this cultivar by using high-stress and low-stress training methods. The plants respond well to topping, fimming, super cropping, and other training techniques.
Pest & Disease Control
Most phenotypes of Daiquiri are resistant to pests and diseases; however, some plants may be susceptible to infections of powdery mildew. Growers can avoid fungal diseases by pruning the plants, providing sufficient lighting and air circulation, and lowering the humidity level. They can also use foliar sprays such as water and sodium bicarbonate solutions to stop powdery mildew from spreading.
Due to the extreme density and frost of the buds, some Daiquiri plants may be prone to bud rot. Growers can prevent bud rot by lightly pruning the plants, providing sufficient ventilation, and keeping the humidity level below 50 percent during the flowering period.
Most Cookies strains require an ample supply of calcium and magnesium. Growers can prevent calcium and magnesium deficiencies by using a cal-mag supplement or amending the growing medium with Epsom salt and dolomite lime. Because some phenotypes may be sensitive to pH fluctuations, growers typically use a pH meter when mixing the nutrient solutions.
Harvesting & Curing Daiquiri
Daiquiri is a fast-flowering strain, with most plants reaching maturity in nine weeks; however, some phenotypes may take up to ten weeks to ripen fully. Growers can verify that the plants are ripe by using a magnifying glass or microscope to examine the trichomes on the buds. The plants are fully mature when the trichomes have turned white, with some starting to turn amber. If harvested when the trichomes are still clear, Daiquiri may provide a more uplifting and cerebral high. If the plants are harvested when the trichomes are mostly amber, the effects are typically more sedating. Harvesting at peak ripeness is necessary to achieve maximum yield and potency.
Growers typically discontinue the use of fertilizers one to two weeks before harvest, and flush the plants with distilled water. A proper flush may remove any remaining fertilizer in the buds and enhance their overall quality. After flushing the plants, the large fan leaves often turn from bright green to yellow, purple, black, and red.
Growers harvest the plants by cutting down the ripest colas first. They take off the large fan leaves and trim away the sugar leaves around the buds. These sugar leaves can be used to make extracts, edibles, and other products that are rich in THC.
After manicuring the buds, they are ready to be dried and cured. Growers typically hang up the branches or place them on drying racks for three to six days. It may take longer to dry Daiquiri, given the thickness and frost of the flowers. Growers can tell that the plants are dry when the stems snap rather than bend.
Once the buds have been dried, they are ready to be cured. The curing process is an important step, as it helps preserve the aroma, flavor, and potency of the buds. Growers remove the buds from the branches and place them in jars. They store the jars in a cool, dark place, and open them a couple of times each day. This process helps to prevent moisture from accumulating in the flowers. After approximately two weeks, the buds are ready to be smoked; however, it may take six to eight weeks to cure them fully.
