White Templar by Greenpoint Seeds fuses Haley’s Comet (bag seed found in the Piff) with Animal Cookies to create a resin-heavy, OG-dominant poly-hybrid finishing in about 63 days. Expect dense, frosty colas and an intensely loud lemon-frosted pound cake aroma tailored for serious collectors and extractors.
White Templar
Lineage: Haley’s Comet (NYC Piff/Haze) x Animal Cookies
Class: New York Heritage Haze Hybrid
Project Name: Uptown Funk
The Hook
The Holy Grail of East Coast nostalgia, tamed by West Coast density. “Church” terps with a knockout punch.
The Insider Lowdown
If you know, you know. Haley’s Comet is a legendary cut of the NYC “Piff” or “Uptown Haze” (Frankie/Church) that dominated Washington Heights in the early 2000s. It smells like frankincense, cat piss, and old wood. By crossing this unruly, long-flowering Sativa with the structure-reinforcing Animal Cookies, we aim to reduce flowering time while adding the density and resin rails of the Cookies lineage. This is an attempt to capture the soaring, racy high of the I-95 corridor Hazes without the 14-week wait.
Deep Dive: The Cult of “Piff”
We need to pause and respect the history here. “Piff,” “Church,” “Frankie,” “Uptown Haze.” These are names for a specific phenotype of Northern Lights #5 x Haze (or possibly a Cuban Black Haze) that dominated New York City in the late 90s and early 2000s. If you were buying weed in Washington Heights or cruising the I-95 corridor to Boston during that era, you know the smell. It is unmistakable. It smells like frankincense, cat piss, basement dampness, and old wood.
The Haley’s Comet cut is a specific “bagseed” variety found in Massachusetts/NYC that carries that legendary profile. It is a Sativa that refuses to be tamed. It stretches 3-4x in flower, takes 11-14 weeks to finish, and grows wispy, airy foxtails. It is not a commercial plant. It is a labor of love.
The Breeding Logic: Taming the Dragon
Why cross this wild, unmanageable Sativa with Animal Cookies?
- Flowering Time Reduction: The Piff cut can push 100 days in flower. The Animal Cookies is a 9-10 week strain. The breeding goal is to pull the Piff flowering time down to a manageable 10-11 weeks.
- Density Improvement: Piff is notorious for “larch”—loose, airy buds. The Animal Cookies imparts the “Golf Ball” density, tightening up the Haze structure so it weighs heavy on the scale.
- Potency Modulation: While Piff is cerebral and racy, Animal Cookies adds a body-numbing narcotic effect. The hope is a “Speedball” effect—mental energy grounded by physical relaxation.
Phenotype Hunting Guide
This cross is an F1 hybrid of two diametrically opposed gene pools (WLD Indica vs. NLD Sativa). You will see variation.
- The “Hay” Pheno: Avoid plants that stay short and smell like generic vegetation.
- The “Stretcher”: You will see plants that stretch 3x or 4x. Don’t cull them immediately. If they start filling in with the Animal density around week 5, you have a winner.
- The “Keeper”: Hunt for the “Compressed Church” pheno. A plant that stretches about 2x (manageable), produces spear-shaped colas (Haze influence) but with swollen calyxes (Cookie influence). The smell must be Acrid Church Incense with a Doughy Back-end.
Caesar’s Take: The I-95 market is currently experiencing a massive Haze revival. “Z” and “Runtz” are everywhere, so the connoisseurs are demanding the “Piff” taste again. This tester is the most culturally significant in the drop.

She got huge and needed to be staked. Conditions were kinda rough with high Temps and humidity but buds still got dense. Fed Jack's 321 almost every watering until last week of only water and leaves faded nicely. Did not smell until harvest time after which she reeked of frankincense. Buds smell like old lady perfume when breaking up and taste like heavy frankincense when smoked, flavor is there until last hit of joint. Yield was good as well. Only popped one seed.
