Harvesting Your Cannabis
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for. After weeks of careful cultivation, your plants are ready to be harvested, dried, cured, and enjoyed. Let’s make sure you finish strong.
π Journey Complete!
The Harvest Process
βοΈ Chop the Whole Plant
When your plant is ready, cut the main stem at the base and remove the entire plant. You can harvest the whole plant at once or take branches individually if different sections have matured at different rates.
π Hang Upside Down in the Dark
Hang your plants upside down in a dark room for approximately 14 days. The darkness preserves terpenes and cannabinoids while allowing for a slow, even dry. Maintain proper temperature and humidity throughout.
π‘οΈ Control Your Environment
Keep your drying space at 70-80Β°F with 30-60% humidity. Too hot and buds dry too fast on the outside while staying moist inside. Too humid and you risk mold. Airflow is important, but avoid fans blowing directly on buds.
π Check for Dryness
After ~14 days, your buds are ready when the smaller leaves feel brittle and dry. Stems should snapβnot bendβwhen you try to break them. If stems still bend, give it more time.
π Trim to Tight Buds
Remove dried fan leaves and trim away sugar leaves to reveal tight, manicured buds. Save your trim for making extracts, edibles, or hash if desired. A clean trim improves bag appeal and smoke quality.
π« Jar and Burp
Place trimmed buds in airtight glass jars (like Mason jars), filling them about 75% full to allow air circulation. Over the next month, “burp” your jars daily by opening them for 10-15 minutes to release moisture and exchange air.

The Cure: Patience Pays Off
Curing in Jars
Curing is where the magic happens. Over the next 4+ weeks, “burp” your jars daily to release excess moisture and exchange fresh air. This process develops smoother smoke, better flavor, and more potent effects. The longer you cure (within reason), the better.
Week 1
Burp 2-3Γ daily for 10-15 min
Week 2
Burp 1-2Γ daily for 10 min
Week 3-4
Burp once daily for 5-10 min
Week 4+
Burp weekly or seal for storage
Long-Term Storage
Storing Your Harvest
Store cured buds in airtight glass jars in a cool, dark place. Avoid plastic bags (static damages trichomes) and exposure to light, heat, or humidity. Properly cured and stored cannabis will maintain quality for up to one year. After that, potency and flavor degrade significantlyβtime to grow another batch!
