MACdawg Strain
MAC 1
The story of MAC 1, the mother of MACdawg, starts with Capulator—a renowned cannabis breeder who has earned a reputation for producing connoisseur-grade strains.
Many years ago, Capulator traveled to South America and sourced a phenotype of a Colombian landrace strain. Sometime around 2012, he crossed this Colombian cultivar with a Starfighter phenotype bred by Alien Genetics. Four years later, Capulator decided to germinate the seeds of this Colombian-Starfighter hybrid.
Unfortunately, he had left the seeds in his pocket when he washed his pants. Although the seeds successfully germinated, all but one died shortly thereafter. Grateful to have a surviving seedling, Capulator dubbed the plant “Miracle 15.” The plant turned out to be a male, and the breeder used it to make several outcrosses.
Roughly a year after germinating Miracle 15, Capulator discovered a particularly potent and flavorful phenotype of Alien Cookies F2, bred by JAWS Gear. He knew that his Miracle 15 male would pair well with the Alien Cookies mother, so he crossed the two strains together. Excited to try out his new creation, Capulator sprouted ten seeds of his Alien Cookies-Miracle 15 hybrid. Of those ten seeds, one plant, labeled “MAC 1,” was the winner. Capulator was enchanted by its generous yield, rich fragrance, and never-before-seen resin production.
Since its inception in 2016, MAC 1 has become one of the most sought-after strains on the market. Capulator had promised himself that he would only give cuts to people that he respected; however, the strain was unstoppable. Today, breeders far and wide are using MAC 1 to create exotic hybrids that pass on the traits of this glorious strain.
MAC 1 Lineage
According to Capulator, MAC 1 is a hybrid of Alien Cookies F2 #7 and Miracle 15. The Alien Cookies F2 #7 was bred by JAWS Gear and selected by Capulator. This strain is said to be a hybrid of Forum Girl Scout Cookies and JAWS’ Alien Dawg F4. Miracle 15, the father of MAC 1, is a Colombian-Starfighter hybrid that was created by Capulator.
Stardawg
Stardawg, the father of MACdawg, was released by Top Dawg Seeds in 2011. JJ NYC, the founder of Top Dawg Seeds, created this line of seeds to capture Chemdawg’s outstanding traits.
To create Stardawg, JJ pollinated his cut of Chem D with an Afghan No. 1 male. Next, he backcrossed this hybrid twice with Chem D to stabilize it. Lastly, he used this backcrossed variety, which he dubbed “Tres Dawg,” to pair with the Chem 4 cut, effectively improving Tres Dawg’s yield and vigor. Satisfied with his new creation, J.J. named the strain “Stardawg.”
Stardawg Lineage
Stardawg is believed to be a cross of Chem 4 and Tres Dawg. Tres Dawg, in turn, is a backcrossed variety that originates from Chem D and Afghan No. 1. Chem 4 and Chem D are phenotypes of Chemdawg—a famous strain with an unknown lineage. Due to its pungent, funky fragrance, some growers believe that Chem D could have descended from Skunk No. 1. Others have stated that it might be a Lemon Thai-Pakistani Kush hybrid.
MACdawg Cannabis Seeds
Greenpoint Seeds paired JJ NYC’s prized Stardawg with the dazzling MAC 1 cut. This hybrid, known as MACdawg, offers more vigor and a better yield than MAC 1 and more resin production and potency than Stardawg. MACdawg is an elite hybrid that truly captures the magic of Capulator’s MAC 1.
MACdawg Aroma
MAC 1 emits a smooth, creamy, and slightly funky scent that is redolent of tart cherry yogurt. Upon breaking up the buds, some users report notes of sweet-and-sour citrus, wildflowers, gasoline, and herbs.
Stardawg delivers a unique bouquet of skunk, diesel, pine, rotting meat, and wet soil. Undertones of menthol and lemon also emerge when grinding up the buds.
MACdawg brings together the sweet-and-sour aroma of MAC 1 with the funky fragrance of Stardawg, creating a complex terpene profile that is one of a kind. This variety smells of ripe lemon and cherry, mixed with pungent notes of skunk and petrol.
MACdawg Flavor
MACdawg is rich in terpenes and flavonoids and offers a robust flavor that is not easily forgotten. This exceptional strain delights the senses with notes of citrus, cheese, and cherries, coupled with savory flavors of diesel and pine. Its complex flavor pairs nicely with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
MACdawg Effects
Thanks to its Colombian ancestry, MAC 1 delivers a powerful cerebral high that tends to heighten the senses and inspire creativity. Users report that this variety provides a wave of euphoria that improves the mood and calms the nerves.
Stardawg also provides an uplifting high that enlivens the mind. This variety offers a well-balanced effect that tends to leave users feeling joyful and motivated. Stardawg may also help ease fatigue and reduce tension in the body.
Like its parents, MACdawg provides a stimulating but balanced high that awakens the mind and soothes the body. This potent strain delivers a wave of bliss that typically leaves users feeling happy and stress-free. MACdawg may also help to reduce general discomfort and boost the appetite.
MACdawg Structure
MAC 1 is medium to tall, with large, sharply serrated fan leaves and minimal lateral branching. This cultivar produces medium-sized colas that are incredibly dense and weighty. The dense, colorful buds are heavily coated in a thick blanket of trichomes.
Stardawg is of medium height, with robust stalks, tight internodal spacing, and thick, forest-green leaves. This strain develops large, bulky colas that are covered with a generous sprinkling of resin glands. Stardawg forms big, bright-green flowers with orange pistils and emerald-green sugar leaves. Most Stardawg plants remain a deep shade of green; however, some phenotypes may display lavender hues when grown in cold climates.
MACdawg is medium to tall in height, with strong branches and serrated leaves covered in thick resin rails. This variety forms heavy, medium-size colas that comprise tight clusters of buds. The flowers are dense and frosty and bedecked with deep-purple sugar leaves, yellow-orange pistils, and an astonishingly thick layer of resin.
Growing MACdawg
MAC 1 is a hardy strain that can thrive both indoors and outdoors. Due to its tall stature, this strain may require training when grown indoors. Growers typically limit vertical growth by using techniques such as topping, super cropping, and fimming. When grown outdoors, this variety performs best in a temperate climate with low humidity. Although this strain tends to grow slowly during the vegetative period, it flowers quickly, reaching maturity in nine weeks.
Stardawg is simple to grow and is resistant to most pests, diseases, and environmental stressors. This strain can thrive indoors and outdoors in a variety of climates and cultivation practices. When cultivated outdoors, Stardawg typically performs best in a mild climate with moderate levels of humidity.
MACdawg is easier to grow than MAC 1 and is resistant to most pests and diseases. This variety grows rapidly and may stretch during the early flowering period. High- and low-stress training methods may help to manage the height and boost the yield of MACdawg. This cultivar can complete the flowering cycle in nine to ten weeks when given sufficient lighting and nutrients and a stable environment.
Pest & Disease Control
Given the extreme resin coverage on the buds and leaves, some MACdawg phenotypes may be susceptible to botrytis, also known as bud rot. Growers can prevent bud rot by keeping the humidity low in the grow room, avoiding overwatering the plants, providing ample ventilation,
and harvesting the plants as soon as they reach maturity.

This is a exceptional strain. First off the hairs/ pistils are more thick/ robust compared to other strains ive seen. Second the purple colors and trichomes make it look like candy on the stalks, drop the temp 10-15F at night. I got a female keeper in 3 seeds and I’ve got 7 left!

Just got my Greenpoint care package, with 6 MACDAWGS seeds, I dropped 3 in a bath and 24 hrs later taps are showing. Two days after receiving the goodies I have 3 in the cups. Will keep you posted.

To the guy who gave this 3 stars because it takes more time to grow, saying it’s diluted genetics.. really bro?!
That just means it has DIFFERENT genetics. It takes longer to finish than most other plants, that aren’t pure Sativa, but it MORE that makes up for it in quality. Please do research before spreading disinformation.

Hi Growers, El Kapitan here… This is an amazing cross, and like many say she is a tough one to grow and definitely not for beginners. Well worth the effort though. Tight nodes, really long slow veg, likes to be pruned regularly. I was only able to save one pheno from my pack, sadly I lost the one in the description pic for the strain, but the one that survived is so yummy. Very potent, very fermented fruity and barely skunky. Everyone who’s tried it falls in love for real. Feed her heavy with love and nutrients and veg her for the win !

hey all this strain is not for the beginner I’ve been doing this since 76 outdoors and the past 6 indoors I had 5 out of 7 pop tap roots they went into red Solo cups of happy frog cocco and perlite under the humidity dome with t-5,s out of that 5 I managed to get two females and they struggled along I tried all my trucks adjusting the ph,ppms to try and make them happy well off those two gals I got a half pound they were very short I only begged 30 days should have gone to 45 live and learn but I did receive a half lb of some fantastic bud NOT FOR SALE to anyone what great taste very stoney with a slight citrus hint on the exhale this gal will end your night at 420 lol if I had tried to pop all the seeds at once I would have had a few more females and been very happy so 4 stars on the strength of the two gals I harvested the buds are off the hook just not a easy grow

I’m rating this strain a 3 due to 2 reasons… I have some friends that are professional growers and acquired a Mac1 along with tons of other genetics. Their Mac1 grew at half the rate of all the other genetics they have. I bought these because I love chemdog, and heard great things about Mac1 years ago. I started these and low and behold they are 10 times slower and seem unstable, I personally think Mac1 is diluted genetics.

I am so stoked to have snagged a pack of these! All seeds are healthy and popped right away. All of the seeds are in plugs right now and are doing great! I am going to definitely make some seeds from these.
