DJ created the famous Blueberry variety in the late 1970s, and it quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. This award-winning variety was unlike any of the cultivars that were commonplace at the time. In an interview with the Willamette Week, DJ’s son, JD, said:

“A lot of the herb that was around at that point was spice cannabis, or it was the Afghan, which was skunk. DJ came along with these things that were berry and purple, and it just blew people’s minds.”

DJ Short continues to produce cannabis seeds to this day, and breeders around the globe have used his legendary Blueberry variety to create a staggering number of hybrids. His tireless work truly has changed the cannabis industry forever.
