Josh Del Rosso is a long-time cannabis grower and founder of Josh D Farms. This seasoned cultivator is considered by many to be one of the pioneers of the OG Kush variety and has been growing it exclusively for decades.

Josh’s friend, Matt “Bubba” Berger, first brought the Kush to Los Angeles, California, in 1996. After setting up a grow operation in Silver Lake, the two friends quickly realized just how in-demand their variety was. Growers from around the country were vying to get their hands on a cut of it.

After Josh and Matt gave clones of Kush to a few close friends, the variety spread like wildfire around California. Soon, there was an assortment of Kush phenotypes circulating the country. To distinguish theirs as the original, Matt and Josh began referring to the variety as “OG Kush.”

Since its arrival in California in the mid-1990s, OG Kush has become one of the most popular cultivars in the world. SFV OG, Ghost OG, Larry OG, and other Kush cuts have been used by breeders to create an endless supply of modern hybrids. In an interview with DOPE Magazine, Josh D said:

“OG became part of [most] exotics and is the backbone to new genetics. It is a cornerstone of the genetic library of cannabis.”

Josh still grows the OG Kush variety all these years later and has created Josh D farms in an effort to keep the spotlight on this legendary cultivar. His passion and dedication to this plant have helped to shape today’s cannabis industry.
