Serious Seeds

Serious Seeds is one of the oldest and most respected cannabis seed banks in the Netherlands. Founded by Simon Smit, this company has received widespread acclaim for its steadfast commitment to developing high-quality seeds. Since 1995, the breeders at Serious Seeds have worked tirelessly to create some of the most awarded strains in the world.

Smit got his start in the cannabis industry during the early 1990s when Alan Dronkers asked him to work for Sensi Seeds in Amsterdam. From then on, he gave up his career as a high school biology teacher and dedicated his life to cannabis breeding.

Serious Seeds’ first offering was the coveted AK-47 strain. This hybrid of Colombian, Mexican, Thai, and Afghan genetics is one of the most ubiquitous strains in the cannabis industry. Despite being more than 30 years old, its sweet, fruity scent and powerful effects still hold up to modern cannabis strains.

Since releasing their flagship AK strain, the breeders at Serious Seeds have gone on to produce a wide range of elites, including Kali Mist, White Russian, and Warlock. They also helped to popularize the famous Bubblegum strain, creating a line of seeds that embodies its legendary qualities.

Unfortunately, Smit fell off a ladder while trimming trees in early 2015. He sustained multiple life-altering injuries that have taken a toll on his health. Despite his recent struggles, Serious Seeds remains one of Holland’s most trusted seed banks, with a small but exemplary selection of time-tested genetics. Having won more than 100 awards since its inception, it’s clear why this cannabis seed bank is a favorite among growers and breeders worldwide.
