Tahoe OG Kush x Animal Cookies
Tahoe Animal is an epic strain that brings together two of the most illustrious cannabis cultivars—Tahoe OG and Animal Cookies. This premium feminized hybrid melds the award-winning qualities of OG and Cookies, producing rock-hard buds that are potent, flavorful, and extra frosty.
Tahoe OG, the mother of Tahoe Animal, is widely regarded as one of the best OG Kush phenotypes on the market. This classic strain is known for its robust aroma, exceptional potency, and hardy growth. Animal Cookies, the other parent of Tahoe Animal, is known for its extreme resin production, exotic flavor, and narcotic effects. By crossing these two strains, Greenpoint Seeds has created Tahoe Animal—a powerful Indica-dominant hybrid that offers an exotic twist to the classic Tahoe OG.
Tahoe Animal Strain
Tahoe OG
Tahoe OG, the mother of Tahoe Animal, is a descendant of the original OG Kush, one of the most sought-after strains of all time. The story of OG Kush started in 1992, when Alec Anderson, a grower in Florida, bought an ounce of a particularly dank strain, which was known as “Krippy.”
Alec discovered a few seeds in the ounce of the Krippy and decided to germinate them. One of the plants that he grew was remarkable, so he made clones of it. Later that year, Alec gave one of the clones to his friend, Matt “Bubba” Berger, and Matt’s group of growers in the Gainesville, Florida, area. Matt’s friend stated that the flowers looked like “kushberries,” and the growers started calling the strain “Kush”.
In 1996, Josh D, a grower in Los Angeles, California, asked Matt to bring a clone of Kush to California and get involved in the medical cannabis industry with him. Matt took a clone of Kush and a clone of Northern Lights, referred to as “Bubba,” and headed to California.
Josh and Matt built a grow room in Silverlake, California, and started growing. Demand for the Kush was strong, so the growers expanded their operation to include several grows throughout the area.
Sometime later, Josh gave clones of the Kush to two of his friends, and they began spreading it throughout the state. Soon, many growers were claiming to have a cut of the Kush. To distinguish theirs as the authentic phenotype, Josh and Matt started calling their cut “OG Kush.”
One particularly potent phenotype of OG Kush circulated in the Lake Tahoe region of California. This cut, known as Tahoe OG, is more robust than most OG phenotypes, and delivers a narcotic stone and rich, earthy flavor. Cali Connection, a well-known cannabis seed company, popularized this cut, producing several hybrids of Tahoe OG. Today, Tahoe OG is one of the most popular strains on the market, and is a favorite among medical and recreational users.
Tahoe OG Lineage
The parentage of Tahoe OG, the mother of Tahoe Animal, is unclear. Matt Berger has said that it probably is an original cutting of OG Kush, but it bears some clear differences from the original phenotype. As a result, many believe it to be an S1 of OG Kush, or perhaps an OG/Afghani hybrid.
The pedigree of OG Kush also is unknown. Some believe it is an S1 of Chemdawg because it shares some of the Dawg’s gassy, earthy qualities. Others believe that the strain may be a hybrid of Lemon Thai and Pakistani Kush, which would account for its lemon flavor and Kush-like growth structure.

Animal Cookies
Animal Cookies is the other parent of Tahoe Animal. Animal Cookies is a particularly potent variety that was originally bred by the Cookies Family of San Francisco. The Cookies Family has earned a reputation for breeding some of the most coveted strains on the market. This group of breeders is responsible for creating Gelato 41, Biscotti, and many other top-shelf hybrids.
The Cookies family breeders created Animal Cookies by crossing their famous cut of Girl Scout Cookies with Fire OG. Animal Cookies brings together the unique aroma and flavor of Girl Scout Cookies with the potency and rich flavor of Fire OG. Many growers consider this cultivar to be one of the finest cuts of Cookies available. Users report that Animal Cookies delivers a deeply relaxing effect that may ease pain and improve the mood. Its sedating stone and exotic aroma have made Animal Cookies a favorite among medical and recreational users.
Animal Cookies Lineage
Animal Cookies, the other parent of Tahoe Animal, is a feminized hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. The pedigree of Girl Scout Cookies is unclear, but many growers have suggested that it is a three-way cross of Durban Poison, Florida OG, and a mysterious strain called “F1.”
The lineage of Fire OG also is shrouded in mystery. Some growers suggest that Fire OG is an original cut of OG Kush, while others maintain that it is a hybrid of OG, or perhaps an S1.
Tahoe Animal Feminized Cannabis Seeds
Greenpoint Seeds used the legendary, clone-only phenotype of Animal Cookies to pollinate the classic Tahoe OG. The resulting strain, Tahoe Animal, produces a variety of phenotypes that display the stellar traits of both parents. Some phenotypes may lean toward the relaxing high and lemon-fuel aroma of Tahoe OG, and others may present the narcotic stone and incredible resin production of Animal Cookies. Most phenotypes will offer a combination of these traits.
Tahoe Animal is an Indica-dominant feminized hybrid. Feminized seeds are a popular choice because they make the growing process easy and rewarding. Approximately 99.9 percent of our feminized seeds will produce all-female plants. This means that growers don’t have to keep a watchful eye on the plants and separate the males from the females.
Tahoe Animal Aroma
Like most OG Kush phenotypes, Tahoe OG offers a complex aroma of pine, lemon-based cleaning products, burning rubber, and gasoline. This particular phenotype tends to emphasize the lemon and gasoline notes more than other OG cuts do.
In contrast, Animal Cookies offers a rich, sweet-and-sour scent. The buds exude sweet notes of brown sugar, cookie dough, and cherries, mixed with savory scents of skunk, gasoline, and fresh soil. Hints of pine and pepper also emerge when grinding up the flowers of Animal Cookies.
Tahoe Animal blends the delectable aromas of both parents. This variety smells of pine, lemon, soil, and gasoline, mixed with notes of cookie dough, cherries, and brown sugar. Depending on the phenotype, some plants may lean toward the earthy bouquet of Tahoe OG, and others may offer the sweet-and-sour aroma of Animal Cookies.
Tahoe Animal Flavor
Tahoe Animal combines the flavors of its parents, coating the palate with notes of pine, lemon, soil, and kerosene, as well as hints of cookie dough, cherries, and brown sugar. The rich flavor remains on the tongue long after users smoke Tahoe Animal. Some OG-dominant phenotypes will taste more of lemon and gasoline, and some Cookies-dominant phenotypes will be sweeter. Most plants will present a mixture of these flavors.
Tahoe Animal Effects
Tahoe OG is more narcotic than most OG Kush phenotypes. Users report that this strain is highly sedative and is effective at relieving pain and stress. Because of its sleep-inducing stone, Tahoe OG is best-suited for nighttime use.
Animal Cookies also provides powerful narcotic effects. This Indica-dominant variety produces a strong body buzz that may ease tension and reduce pain. The high comes on quickly, elevating the mood, boosting the appetite, and relaxing the body. When consumed in excess, this strain may send even the most seasoned stoners into a deep sleep.
Like its parents, Tahoe Animal delivers a deeply relaxing and body-numbing stone. The high starts with a gentle cerebral rush of euphoria, soothing the mind and easing stress. Soon, this cerebral effect transforms into a calming stone that may relieve pain and relax the muscles. Tahoe Animal is an excellent choice for an evening or nighttime smoke.
Tahoe Animal Structure
Most OG Kush Phenotypes are tall and stretchy, with thin stems and dense, golf ball-shaped flowers. Tahoe OG is more Indica-dominant than are other OG Kush phenotypes and is slightly stockier. Tahoe OG produces an average yield of extremely dense buds that are caked in resin.
Animal Cookies is medium to tall in height, with long, lanky branches and emerald-green leaves that often display hues of yellow and purple during the late flowering period. Animal Cookies forms small, lime-green buds that are sprinkled with red pistils and hints of purple in the sugar leaves. The flowers are dense and heavily caked in resin.
Like its parents, Tahoe Animal is medium to tall in height, with long branches that have substantial internodal spacing. This variety forms small- to medium-size colas that are heavily coated in resin. The flowers are incredibly dense and sticky. When exposed to cold temperatures, some phenotypes of Tahoe Animal may display hues of purple and red in the leaves and buds.
Growing Tahoe Animal
Tahoe OG is a moderately easy strain to cultivate, and is resistant to many pests, diseases, and environmental stressors. This hardy strain can be grown both indoors and outdoors, using a variety of cultivation methods. When grown outdoors, Tahoe OG performs best in a temperate climate with low humidity.
Animal Cookies, on the other hand, is a difficult strain to cultivate. This variety does not respond well to fluctuations in pH, temperature, and to other environmental stresses. Animal Cookies thrives in a controlled environment, with a stable pH, ample lighting, and adequate nutrition.
Tahoe Animal is easier to grow than are most Cookies varieties, and is resistant to most pests and diseases. This variety is adaptable, and can thrive both indoors and outdoors. However, some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more sensitive to environmental stresses.
Both Tahoe OG and Animal Cookies tend to stretch significantly during the early flowering period. Like its parents, most phenotypes of Tahoe Animal will stretch in height during the early flowering period. Growers can limit the vertical stretch and increase the yield of this cultivar by using a variety of high-stress and low-stress training methods. The plants respond well to topping, fimming, super cropping, and other training techniques.
Pest & Disease Control
Most phenotypes of Tahoe Animal are resistant to pests and diseases, but some plants may be susceptible to infections of powdery mildew. To prevent powdery mildew infections, growers usually prune the plants, provide ample lighting and air circulation, and keep the humidity level low. During the vegetative growth period, growers also use foliar sprays such as water and sodium bicarbonate mixtures to stop powdery mildew from spreading.
Due to the thickness of the buds, some Tahoe Animal plants may be prone to bud rot. Growers can avoid bud rot by thinning the canopy, offering sufficient ventilation, and keeping the humidity level below 50 percent during the flowering stage.
Most OG and Cookies strains require an ample supply of calcium and magnesium. Tahoe Animal also requires a diet rich in calcium and magnesium. Growers can avoid nutrient deficiencies by using a cal-mag supplement to feed the plants, or amending the soil with dolomite lime, Epsom salt, or gypsum. Because some Animal Cookies-dominant plants may be sensitive to pH changes, we recommend that growers use a pH meter when feeding the plants.
Harvesting & Curing Tahoe Animal
Tahoe Animal is a fast-flowering strain, with most plants reaching maturity within nine weeks. Some plants may take up to ten weeks to ripen fully. The best way to determine if the plants are ripe is by using a jeweler’s loupe or microscope to observe the resin glands on the buds. When the trichomes have turned white, with a few starting to turn amber, the plants are ripe and ready for harvest. If the plants are harvested when the trichomes are transparent, Tahoe Animal may provide a more energizing and cerebral high. If the plants are harvested when the trichomes have turned amber, the high is usually more relaxing. Harvesting Tahoe Animal at peak ripeness will help to ensure optimal yield and potency.
Generally, growers discontinue the use of fertilizers one to two weeks before harvest, and flush the plants with water. This practice may enhance the aroma and flavor and flavor of the buds by removing excess fertilizers. During the flushing period, the leaves of the plants may display hues of yellow and purple.
Growers begin the harvesting process by removing the most mature colas first. They cut off the fan leaves and manicure the flowers by removing the small leaves around the flowers. The sugar leaves can be used to make extracts, edibles, topicals, and other products that are rich in THC.
After manicuring the flowers, the next step is to dry them. Growers hang up the branches for three to six days, or until the branches snap rather than bend. It may take longer to dry Tahoe Animal, given the extreme density of the buds.
Once the plants have been thoroughly dried, the final step is to cure them. Curing is an important process, as it preserves the flavor, aroma, and potency of the flowers. To cure the buds, growers typically remove them from the branches and store them in sealable glass jars. They keep the jars in a cool, dry, and dark place, and open them once or twice a day for two weeks. After two weeks, the buds are ready to be smoked; however, it may take a longer period of time to fully cure Tahoe Animal’s dense, frosty flowers.

Real vigor is easy to spot. branches jump out of the main body, leaves span the size of a giants hand I can’t until I trigger flower, I’ve got some GMO punch growing next to it and it’s night and day, I’m cloning this one for sure.
