Hi, I’m Omkara. I’m a new grower, so I hope to get a lot of good advice and knowledge from you all and make some new friends maybe. Right now, my setup is two 4x4x7’ tents with 1 600 watt mh and hps in each. Growing in coco using Dynagro nutes mainly with the Foxfarm 3 pack of bloom enhancers. This should work for my personal medicinal needs. I’ve got a little collection of good seeds so far, and I just ordered some Sundae Stallion which should be really good from what I’ve read about the Sundae Driver. Anyways, nice to be here and I’m looking forward to chatting with everyone!
Thank you! Nice to meet you and to be a part of this community! I’m getting more excited about getting these seeds and growing them out! Sundae Stallion, Cookies n Chem, and Sky Warden! They’re going to have to wait until I get some other plants grown out (from other breeders that I’ll leave unnamed). By then though, I think I’ll be ready to try a grow journal since I’ll have the basics down, hopefully. Peace, love and lots of thanks to you!
Aloha! My name is Stephen, I live in Kona, Hawaii, been here for 38 years. I've been growing on and off for many years (I'm 67), and just had one of my best harvests ever!! A short season, winter crop. My Tomahawks performed excellent!! I grew only 2 right now (they both sprouted, both females -- I keep reading about how many people get very few females... I don't know what that's about, mine from GPS are always 50% female, or better. I even got some purple color on one, first time I ever got color here in Konas' mild weather. Over the last couple of years I've bought at least a dozen different strains from them, I've enjoyed them all.
I start mine under lights.... our days and nights here are always close to the same.... so I sprout mine, and have them outside (it's wonderful being able to grow my girls outside all year!!!) during the day. When sunset hits, I put them under lights for another 6 hours, for a total of 18. After about 6-7 weeks, when they are 18" - 24" tall, I top them and put them out under natural light.
Going from the 18 hours directly to 12 hours starts their flowering immediately. Most of my plants reach about 3-4, maybe 5' when I use this method.
Now that it's spring, the next plants I put out will go with totally natural light. Last year some of my sativas I harvested on Dec 25th.
That's it for now. I've got a few more seeds I'll be getting from GPS.... I hope to get a few of the new feminized ones... Black Banana! I have bought a few seeds from other reputable growers, and I've started to cull and make a few of my own hybrids.... ones acclimated to my Kona climate.
Professionally, I have been in the horticulture field since I was a small child... about 6-7. I've made my living for the last 50 years growing landscape plants. Recently I've been managing 10 acres of tropicals here in Kona to use at the rich folks houses up on the Kona Gold Coast. I can't wait until Cannabis is completely legal so I can make my living from growing marijuana!!!!!
Thanks Gu and GPS!!! Not only are your seeds and crosses great, but you are nice people to deal with also.
Mahalo for all your help!
hey bro, my name is briar i am new to the forum also. its nice to meet you i have not gotten my things i ordered for my first grow but i am looking forward to trying to do this myself. i just got my medical card today so i am super happy. i have errands to run today but as soon as i am done i am blazing some hippie crippler with northern lights and grind up some candyland to have a couple hoots to celebrate!!! i am a little confused by the ppm and adding my nutes to the water i am going to use a DWC system with two viparspectra 700 w in a 8x8 grow tent. im using general hydros nutes and have all the gear i need for a good grow. i have some blue dream, lemon super silver haze and candyland that i am going to try and grow at the end of the month. im really happy to be connected to Gu and the rest of the family. happy growing everyone briar
Update: Due to my still developing growing skills and an out of town trip (to Colorado actually), I have one Sundae Stallion female plant. Well it’s one plant, one clone in veg, one clone that is about week 6 of flower (that almost died but is alive and has good trichome production...I call her my bride of Frankenstein plant because she looks kinda rough lol), and two more clones in flower that are just beginning to show pistils...so these will be beautiful plants that won’t get dehydrated like the other. The Sundae Stallion that I have clones well. I had another, but it died, that I couldn’t get to clone; it had really hard stems. I’m excited about these plants! I have other plants from other breeders and I have to say I’m impressed with these genetics! I have more seeds from Greenpoint that I’ll grow too and let you all know about them. When I get this Sundae Stallion harvested I’ll post some bud photos. But right now this plant looks pretty abused. She’s alive and growing some nice buds though. Very happy so far! I hope you are all having great success with your grows too! Peace! 🙏
