old dirt farmer, copper chem, cookies and chem and bodaga bubblegum
i am starting a grow journal on my greenpoint seed grow, ill put in as much info as i can as it is a great help to me when i read other journals. i hope my journal will help someone out with there greenpoint grow. this is my first grow journal and the first time with greenpoints beans so here i go.
this grow journal will be a simple one.
i am doing this grow with inexpensive easy to use gear so this should be great for beginners.
ill be growing copper chem, bodaga bubblegum and cookies and chem.
ill be using a spl digital 1000w mh/hps adjustable ballest. 500w/750w/1000w this is a affordable ballest/kit most anyone can afford.
soil will be foxfarm happy frog
nutes will also be foxfarm,s 3 and cal mag
temp 65 to 75 / ph is 6 55 i am using spring water from my spring lake that puts out a consistant 6,55 ph, there are also minerals from the spring not found in most city water ect.
pots will be fabric 3 gallon, one gallon and started in plastic cups
my camera sucks so sorry if the pic,s are not the best.
1. first pic is the bodega bubblegum, i had 5 keepers from that pack. i am noticing a crinkle leaf formation on 4 and on normal so well see how they do. these are 2 week pic,s
2. these are the copper chem,s at 2 weeks. the cc,s are very uniform in size and shape. i see a very stable strain here and would be great for first timers. i did though have one pheno that is nothing like any of the other cc,s. i have a side by side pic to show this odd pheno.
3. cookies and chem at 1 week
SO far i am really pleased with gp seeds, easy transactions with no worries, great communications with questions ect that GU is happy to help with, great germination rate %85 and really nice prices. the auctions are also pretty fun and saves ya a bunch. i am looking forward to see the end result of my gp beans and will keep this journal up-dated as i go.
sorry for cruddy pic,s ill work on that
i almost forgot, the 4 plants in the one gallon pot,s shown in the pic,s below are BAGSEED plants from pressed herb most likely from countrys out of the u.s.
i do this because i have found some amazing strains from pressed herb and hope with every grow that there will be nice landrace strain in there to mate with my gp beans
im back on week 3 of my greenpoint grow,
first off the vigor of these plants is un-real, im transplanting tomarrow to 1g pots as they are more than ready, the foxfarm soil has a really smooth drainage and i water up to 3 times a day in the small pots and every 2 days for the gallons.
i have not used nutes as of yet so fox,s soil is just fine for the first 3 wks, they will start on cal-mag and fox veg later this week.
i am using a adjustable digital ballest and have run it on 500w 6 hrs 750 6 hrs and 500 for 7 more. i know the spectrum is not LED but i love the fact i can adjust the wattage and the plants seem to love it.
1. the bodegas, i have 5 and there doing so good, i had crinkle leaf on 4 before i read someplace that the bodega does not do well with humidity sooo fixed that and they took off and problem solved i also had 2 extra bodegas that had husking issues at sprout but are small but usable. i topped at the 5th node but i see the 4th with bodagas is best.
2. copper chem,s i had 9 out of 10 sprout and grow to 5th node only loosing 1 to a 7 lb pekenise with a little bladder.
the coppers are so easy to grow, i wish i had this strain 38 years ago instead of trying to grow thai indoors with 40w tubes.
for a beginner this is a winning strain and what can go wrong with the chem. here are a few
3. the chem and cookies
from what i read about cookies it,s a picky one to n grow and that has kept me from growing cookies in the past BUT when i saw the vigor in these guys i was taken back. no spindly growth here, this stardawg male must be something else to make a cookie strain pop like this in just 2 weeks from sprout. like i said i had reservations about a cookie mix but i am really excited to see this finish. a pic of them blow at 2 weeks
a few more pic,s of side branching and the (strange looking cchem) this chem has small almost sativa like leaves and structure thin and wispy but very healthy so ?????????? anyone have a copper chem with such different traits ?
finally out of 5 bag seed plants i got my one big sativa, this is going to be the mother of the cchem, bodega and cookie males. ill dust the sativa with each, i hope to bring out a strain that is easier to grow outdoors in the deep south as indica heavy strains seem go get beat up by the humidity but that will bring on the smell and tastes of these 3.
good luck in your grows and see ya next week
sorry for no entries for a bit but thinks have been busy.
i am at 33 days veg now and things have been going well with this GP grow.
so far there have been no insect issues, no plant issues and good results.
i transplanted from small cups to 1/2 gallon containers, topped and fed for the first time,(fox veg and cal-mag) with very little stress.
i have transplanted a few copper chem,s 3 that have showed some pre-sex with the hopes they are females into 5 gallon fabric pots and a 4th into a 3 gallon fabric pot. i have 2 bodegas showing male signs so i have put them to the side.
1 the copper chem,s
i love this strain, the plants are very uniformed with just a bit of drift but showing a very stable strain. the plant structure in a whole has been a joy to grow, nice branching and and tight spacing. i see that it takes little time to get these to be monsters. over-all very happy with the c chem at veg state and look forward to a nice yeald. the bigger plants in the pictures are some of the coppers.
2. bodega bubblegum
these have been the leggy plants in this run, the branching is very xmas tree on most with 2 showing more stardawg, easy to grow and no issues, i am a GARDENER by trade and will put the bodegas through a nice color change, after dealing with flowers of every color each day id like some of it in the room and found the bodegas to have what it takes. i will be dropping my temps from a 70 humidity and 80 degree temp veg to a constant 50 to 60 degree temp with low humidity bloom. i am able to do this through a vent cut in my floor that regulates fresh air from out-side to the room to keep the co2 up and temps where i need them to with some accuracy so bring on the fall colors.
ok sorry for making fun but these are some really goofy plants, a really odd structure most likely from (cookies) but in a good way, fast growth and big leaves with a fat structure all around, i am really looking forward to seeing these in bloom and with the lower temps i add they should be worthy of a photo contest hint hint !
SO i will veg for 3 more days to get everyone ready for bloom, i should loose half (sob) to being male but plan to seed them ( single bud site seeding ) and make some crosses. id love to see some combination suggestions from ya all such as bodega x copper or visa versa so make some suggestions and ill do 2 or 3 and show them on my next grow journal.
the pictures are kinda random (my bad) just 2 much to move around. i WILL take individual pic,s as i transplant the females into 3 to 5 gallon fabric bags. that will give ya a good idea of there individual size at bloom and structure.
so ill see ya in a week or so, let me know if ya have any questions and grow on america.
