Motorbreath #15 x Animal Cookies
Cookie Breath is a breath of fresh air. This premium feminized hybrid offers a new take on the classic Chemdawg, OG Kush, and Cookies strains of cannabis. Cookie Breath brings together two elite cultivars—Motorbreath No. 15 and Animal Cookies—to create a potent and terpene-rich variety that will take anyone’s breath away.
Motorbreath No. 15 has received much acclaim for its pungent aroma, powerful effects, and generous yield. This award-winning strain has been featured on High Times Magazine’s list of the “Strongest Strains on Earth” multiple times. It regularly tests at 28 percent THC. Animal Cookies, in turn, is known for its potent effects, exotic flavor, and outstanding bag appeal. By combining these two strains, Greenpoint Seeds has created Cookie Breath—a top-tier hybrid that offers the bountiful yield and pungent aroma of Motorbreath No. 15 and the extraordinary resin production and bag appeal of Animal Cookies.
Cookie Breath Strain
Motorbreath No. 15
The story of Motorbreath No. 15 starts with Chemdawg, one of the most flavorful and potent varieties of all time. In 1991, a young grower known as Chemdog traveled from his home in Massachusetts to attend a Grateful Dead concert in Indiana. At the show, Chemdog purchased an ounce of cannabis from two fellow growers known as P-Bud and Joe Brand. The growers referred to the strain as Dog Bud, stating that it was so potent that it caused users to “roll over like a dog.”
Chemdog exchanged phone numbers with P-Bud and Joe Brand and, after returning to Massachusetts, asked them to send him more of the Dog Bud.
When Chemdog received the package, he was delighted to find 13 seeds in the DogBud. That same year, he germinated a few of the seeds and discovered two of the finest phenotypes in cannabis history: Chem ’91 and Chem Sis.
In 2001, Chemdog germinated three more of the seeds, and labeled them “Chem C,” “Chem D,” and “Chem E.” The Chem D was the favorite, offering a large yield of potent, frosty buds that reeked of gasoline, skunk, and citrus. This variety soon became a staple among growers, breeders, and users.
Sometime later, Jimmy Nitz of Pisces Genetics acquired a cutting of Chem D, and crossed it with the classic San Fernando Valley OG. He named this hybrid “Motorbreath” in recognition of its pungent diesel-fuel aroma. Jimmy grew out many seeds of Motorbreath, keeping only 20 of his favorite plants. Of the 20 plants, the one labeled “Motorbreath No. 15” was the best. This phenotype produced a large yield of buds that were potent, frosty, and highly aromatic.
Motorbreath went on to win several awards, and became a popular variety among growers and users. Today, Jimmy’s Motorbreath No. 15 is highly sought after among breeders.
Motorbreath No. 15 Lineage
Motorbreath No. 15, the mother of Cookie Breath, is a hybrid of Chem D and SFV OG. Although Chem D is a highly popular strain, its lineage is unknown. Due to its skunky and earthy aroma, some growers believe that Chem D may be a hybrid of Skunk No. 1. Others have suggested that it may be a cross of Pakistani Kush and Lemon Thai. The lineage of SFV OG also is a mystery. Some growers believe it to be an original phenotype of OG Kush, while others suggest it may be an S1 of OG.
Animal Cookies, also known as Animal Crackers, is the other parent of Cookie Breath. Animal Cookies is a rare, clone-only cultivar that was created by the Cookies Family of San Francisco. The Cookies Family, one of the most esteemed groups of breeders in the cannabis industry, has created many well-known cultivars such as Gelato 33 and Girl Scout Cookies.
Animal Cookies is a potent hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG, producing a larger yield and stronger branches than are typical of most Cookies varieties. Users report that Animal Cookies delivers a powerfully narcotic stone that may numb the body and boost the mood. Its potent effects and exotic flavor have made Animal Cookies a favorite among growers, breeders, and users.
Animal Cookies Lineage
Animal Cookies, the other parent of Cookie Breath, is a hybrid of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. The lineage of Girl Scout Cookies is unclear, but the Cookies Family has stated that it is a three-way cross of Durban Poison, Florida OG, and an unknown strain referred to as “F1.”
The pedigree of Fire OG also is unclear. Some growers suggest that Fire OG is an original phenotype of OG Kush, while others maintain that it is an S1 or hybrid of OG. Animal Cookies offers the unique color and flavor of Girl Scout Cookies and the potency and yield of Fire OG.
Cookie Breath Feminized Cannabis Seeds
Greenpoint Seeds used the legendary, clone-only cut of Animal Cookies to pollinate Jimmy Nitz’s prized Motorbreath No. 15. The resulting hybrid—Cookie Breath—produces an assortment of connoisseur-grade phenotypes that share the exceptional qualities of Chem, OG, and Cookies. Some plants may offer the large yield and funky flavor of Motorbreath No. 15, and others may provide the narcotic stone and outstanding bag appeal of Animal Cookies. Most plants will present a combination of these qualities.
Cookie Breath Aroma
Motorbreath No. 15 offers a pungent, funky aroma that is cherished by fans of OG and Chem. As its name suggests, this variety fills the room with a strong odor of diesel fuel. When the flowers are ground up, notes of skunk, citrus, and soil become apparent.
Animal Cookies emits a sweet-and-sour scent that is complex and powerful. This variety offers a bouquet of sweet cookie dough, petrol, skunk, and menthol, with hints of soil and mixed nuts. When the buds are broken apart, hints of cherry, pine, and pepper become apparent.
Cookie Breath unites the funky, diesel-like smell of Motorbreath No. 15 with the sweet-and-sour scent of Animal Cookies. Some phenotypes may offer the eye-watering aroma of Motorbreath, and others may lean toward the bittersweet bouquet of Animal Cookies.
Cookie Breath Flavor
Cookie Breath offers a strong and complex flavor that is sweet and funky. This variety coats the mouth with notes of citrus, cherries, and cookie dough, mixed with bitter flavors of diesel, pine, soil, and skunk. Some plants may lean toward the funky taste of Motorbreath, and others may produce the sweet, zesty flavor of Animal Cookies. Most phenotypes will offer a blend of these mouthwatering flavors.
Cookie Breath Effects
Motorbreath No. 15 is a potent strain known to contain up to 28 percent THC. The effects are well-balanced, starting with a powerful cerebral high that is both uplifting and euphoric. Soon, this cerebral high transforms into a relaxing and numbing body stone. Many users have stated that Motorbreath No. 15 may ease pain and stress, and help them drift off into a restful sleep.
Animal Cookies delivers a powerfully narcotic stone. Users report that this strain may relieve pain and stress, and ease muscle tension. When consumed in excess, Animal Cookies may send users into a deep sleep. This cultivar is perfect for a relaxing evening smoke or nightcap.
Cookie Breath combines the potent effects of Motorbreath No. 15 and Animal Cookies, offering a balanced high that soothes the body and mind. The high comes on quickly, flooding the mind with a wave of positivity and inspiration. This stimulating cerebral effect slowly morphs into a calming body stone that may ease muscle tension and relieve pain. Some Motorbreath-dominant phenotypes may be more uplifting and cerebral, and some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more narcotic and pain-relieving. Cookie Breath is an excellent choice for an evening or nighttime smoke.
Cookie Breath Structure
Motorbreath No. 15 is of medium height, with strong branches, moderate internodal spacing, and thick, emerald-green leaves. This cultivar produces gigantic colas that are heavily dusted with resin. Motorbreath No. 15 forms dense, lime-green buds with swollen calyxes and dark-red pistils.
Animal Cookies is medium to tall in height, with long, lanky branches and small, frosty buds; however, this cultivar is somewhat more robust than most Cookies varieties. Animal Cookies form dark-green leaves that tend to turn purple when exposed to cold temperatures. This cultivar produces small, bright-green buds that are adorned with red pistils and hints of purple in the sugar leaves. The flowers are dense and heavily coated in trichomes.
Cookie Breath is medium to tall in height, with long branches and thick, emerald-green leaves. As the plants mature, the leaves of some phenotypes may present shades of purple and yellow. This variety forms medium-size colas and dense flowers that are blanketed in a thick layer of trichomes. Some Motorbreath-dominant phenotypes may be somewhat shorter, with tighter internodal spacing and larger colas. Some Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be frostier and more colorful.
Growing Cookie Breath
Motorbreath No. 15 is a beginner-friendly strain that is resilient to most pests, diseases, and environmental stressors. This cultivar is highly adaptable and can flourish in both indoor and outdoor environments. It is also amenable to a variety of cultivation methods. When grown outdoors, Motorbreath No. 15 prefers a temperate climate, with moderate humidity.
In contrast, Animal Cookies is notoriously challenging to grow and is sensitive to many environmental stressors. To produce a modest yield, this variety requires adequate nutrition, ample lighting, a stable pH, and a moderate climate.
Cookie Breath is a moderately easy strain to cultivate and is resistant to most pests, diseases, and environmental stressors; however, some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may be more sensitive to fluctuations in pH, temperature, humidity, and other conditions. Cookie Breath can be grown both indoors and outdoors if given a warm and dry climate.
Pest & Disease Control
Chem, Cookies, and OG strains are known to be susceptible to powdery mildew. Like its ancestors, Cookie Breath may be prone to powdery-mildew infections. Growers can avoid powdery-mildew infections by gently pruning the plants, using fans to provide ample air circulation, and lowering the humidity in the grow room. Foliar sprays such as water and sodium bicarbonate solutions will help limit the spread of powdery mildew.
Given the extreme density and frost of the buds, some phenotypes of Cookie Breath may be prone to bud rot. Growers can prevent bud rot by pruning the plants, providing ventilation, and keeping the humidity level low (below 50 percent) during the flowering period.
Both Motorbreath No. 15 and Animal Cookies require an ample supply of calcium and magnesium. Cookie Breath also thrives on a diet rich in calcium and magnesium. Growers can prevent calcium and magnesium deficiencies by including a cal-mag supplement in the nutrient schedule or amending the growing medium with dolomite lime and Epsom salt. Experienced growers normally use a pH meter when mixing nutrient solutions. This helps ensure that the plants receive a consistent pH and can absorb the optimum amount of nutrients.
Harvesting & Curing Cookie Breath
Most phenotypes of Cookie Breath reach maturity in 10 weeks; however, some plants may take up to 11 weeks to fully ripen. Growers can determine if the plants are mature by using a microscope or jeweler’s loupe to observe the trichomes on the buds. When the trichomes turn milky white, with some starting to turn amber, the plants are fully mature and ready to be harvested.
If Cookie Breath is harvested when the trichomes are still transparent, it may produce a more uplifting and cerebral high. If it is harvested when the trichomes are mostly amber, the effects may be more narcotic and sedating. Harvesting the plants when they are fully mature will help ensure a generous yield of potent buds.
One to two weeks before harvest, growers typically stop feeding the plants with nutrient solutions and flush them with plain, distilled water. This process may help to remove excess fertilizer from the flowers and enhance their flavor, aroma, and overall quality.
To harvest the plants, growers remove the ripest colas first. They remove the large fan leaves from the branches, then manicure the buds by trimming away the small sugar leaves that surround the flowers. Manicuring the buds will improve their appearance and make them smoother and more flavorful when smoked.
After the flowers have been trimmed, the branches can be hung by a node or placed on a drying rack for three to six days. It may take longer to dry Cookie Breath buds, given their extreme frost and density. The buds are dry when the branches snap rather than bend.
Once the flowers have been dried, they are ready to be cured. Curing helps preserve the aroma, flavor, and potency of the flowers. To cure the buds, growers usually remove the flowers from the branches, store them in sealable glass jars, and keep them in a cool, dry, and dark place. They open, or “burp,” the jars twice a day for three days. This prevents excess moisture from accumulating in the flowers. After three days, growers burp the jars once a day for the next two weeks. The buds may be smoked after two weeks; however, it may take four to eight weeks to cure them properly.
